Lets Get Ready to Rumble

So, SW lady has set us all a challenge, or as I like to think of it, a competition (just against myself)! Not that I'm competitive, well, I never thought I was until the musical 'sit' competition at puppy class, a couple of years ago......we won!
So we have 6 weeks to set ourselves a goal to achieve, it obviously needs to be around weight loss - and we were all encouraged to think big if you pardon the pun, and reach for a great loss.

I was feeling particularly good this week, as I achieved my Club 10 award, which is where you lose 10% of your starting weight. Overall, now, I have lost 2 st 11 1/2 lbs ! So I decided, that I needed o lose 1 stone, 1 1/2 lbs, which might seem like a random amount, but this would take me down to the next but one 'round stone'. I'd be really happy with that.

We all wrote our goals on a card, and were encouraged to put them up somewhere, where they would prompt and inspire us - so mine is on the cupboard where the tea lives - it's the cupboard I go in the most throughout the day - so that works for me......it's also where my chocolate stash lives too - so it has double impact.

So my plan is to be to really commit to this over the next few weeks - I have no social events that are likely to impact on this - and actually have two walks - the 3k rainbow walk next Sunday, and the 5k Blacklight run - although, I am doing it as a walk, the week after.

Fingers crossed for me folks, and as Ant and Dec once said....'Lets get ready to rumble!'.

Get there if you can

What a fab week I have had. I'm sitting here feeling ever so slightly smug after getting my 2 1/2 stone award this week, making my total weight loss of 2 stone 8 1/2 in 12 weeks, so that's an average of 3lbs a week. Don't get me wrong, I've had an teeny increase, and a maintain over that time, but on the whole it's been going down in the right direction!

Another 1 1/2 lb and I will have reached my Club 10 award and only 5 to bring myself into the next stone - a number I can't remember the last time I saw it on the scales!

So, what did I do different this week - well, after a maintain last week when I felt I had really been on it the week leading up to the weigh in, I thought something had to change. After sitting in class, and listening to SW lady talking about her own battles with the sweet stuff (albeit sweetener in her case) I had a bit of a light bulb moment. It made me realise that having a sugar in my tea (and I like a lot of tea) is really jeopardising my chances - by using all my syns up on sugar, it leaves little else for other goodies, and as a result is making some meals a bit, well, boring not being able to use the syns for things like salad dressing, or a sprinkle of cheese.

So, in class, I heard myself say I would go cold turkey on sugar in my tea - I almost instantly regretted it, thinking I would fail, but somehow it has been remarkably easy and I have! Day 8 now, and, although I'm still not really loving a cup of tea at the moment, it's drinkable, and I have stopped gurning when swigging it!

Weight wise, it obviously did the trick for me, as I had a 4 1/2 lb loss this week.

On the exercise front, I managed 50 lengths at the pool this week - really pleased with myself - and I'm on course to get my silver exercise award next week, having now done a total of 8 weeks of exercising 3 times or more a week. A far cry from me sitting on my bum watching the telly before SW!

My next challenge now, is to get my 3 stone award - it is normally around this time that I lose the will to carry on, and give up just shy of my 3 stone mark- I have done this at least twice before. But if anything, instead of feeling ready to give up, I feel like I'm still at the start, which can only be a good thing.

I've set myself a goal, of a pretty frock for my 40th birthday (that's your cue to say 'how can that be, you only look 25!) in December, ready for my Strictly themed birthday do! Hoping to get my legs out and everything!!

So, as Oleta said 'I'll get there if I can' - but actually, I've decided, I'm just going to get there!
