Money's too tight to mention

I hate how my emotional state is so intrinsically linked to my poor eating choices. If I'm happy, I eat.  If I'm angry, I eat. If I'm fed up, I eat....you get the picture. It does seem to be mainly negative eating that spurs me on to make bad food choices, and this week has been pretty cruddy.
To cut a very long story short, my husband has lost his job unexpectedly. So, as Simply Red sang...'Money's too tight to mention'. No fault of his but because of this we have both been on an emotional roller coaster this week (despite hubby not 'doing' emotions!). Don't worry, I'm not going to get a tiny violin out for you all to play me sympathy tunes...things could be so much worse...but, once again we are in, what seems to be our default position in life....stoney broke. That is of course unless we won the Euro millions on Friday.
On the food front,  I have craved sweet stuff, bad carbs, chocolate, crisps, and despite not actually being hungry...I have still eaten a lot of bad choices this weekend.
Although I had a respectable 2 1/2 lb loss this week, but I was a bit miffed it wasn't more. I had tried so hard on the plan last week. I have to keep reminding myself that I have lost 52.5 lbs in 20 weeks....that's 2.6lbs a week average, which isn't bad going!
What I am trying to give myself a bit of a break on though is that I've spent 30 years making poor food choices, and only 20 weeks in to a complete lifestyle change, I am bound to have the odd slip up, but it's ok, I can just draw a line under that not so brilliant food choice and make sure the next ones a good one!
In sw group we have set ourselves. another mini challenge..In 8 weeks time, I would like to have lost 1 St 2 1/2 lbs....I would be holding up my 5 stone award then!! How fab would that be?

I'll keep you posted :-)

Super smashing great!

Yippedy doodah! Am feeling on top of the world this week as I managed to lose a big fat 7lbs! That takes my total to 3st 9lbs and that equates to 1 1/2 Sids (the pooch at the bottom of the page) which, when put like that makes me realise how much I have lost.
I had a great week, mostly on plan...but when I was on it, I was on it! I've upped the exercise including aquafit which I really enjoyed and boy does it work you hard! Legs stopped working when I tried to climb out of the pool!
The good news is that I am really starting to see a change in my shape, particularly around my middle and lower legs.
With my new found confidence I even decided to get my legs out and don a frock for a friends wedding. I felt super glam and had lots of nice comments.
I've even entered a competition to be in a plus sized clothes company's tv ad.....despite probably next to no chance of winning (it was the £500 of clothes I was more interested in)....I would never have dared to even submit an entry before!
I tell you what though, I could never have got this far without the amazing support I'm getting from all over the place....friends, family, colleagues, fellow sw-ers and anybody else who has sent me lovely supportive messages.
Thank you so much, it means the world to me....and I will keep doing it with you lot behind me xx

A week of two halves

Well, I started the week off feeling fantastic. I had achieved my 3 stone award and we were on the second week of our challenge. I'd completed the 3 (or 5k - we weren't quite sure) rainbow walk and I had got plastered in glow powder at the Blacklight run and had really worn myself out marching round the 5k course. I even took myself off for an impromptu swim on bank holiday Monday, only to find an aquafit session on instead (which I enthusiastically took part in)......but then hormones kicked in good and proper and unfortunately for me I crave stodgy carbs and blow up like a balloon :-(
So what started off for me as a great week will no doubt end up in a disappointment on the scales....but as sw lady says 'it's only a snapshot' and I know why....so onwards.......and onto my next walking challenge. .....hmmmm what next?
