Well, as Nina says - I am feeling good, you see, since my last post, where I was worrying that the bad carbs would have got me......I managed to lose 6lbs that week! I was in shock. What a lovely surprise after thinking I may have jeopardised it all.
I can only think that it was down to stuffing myself silly with as many veg (particularly green ones, they just seem more healthy somehow) and upping the ante with my exercise.
I braved the cold water of the local pool, and managed 30 lengths on my first go, albeit pausing between each length and I increased the walking a bit too.
Then last week, I got poorly......Again. Epic fail on the healthy eating front, couldn't keep anything down for 3 days, and anything I did manage to keep down was fattening food - chicken soup, ginger biscuits...... My week was also made so much 'better', by a child asking me if I had a baby in my tummy (I do not) and a lovely teenager referring to me as fat (yes, I am, and are fully aware of it, thanks for pointing it out). So, I drew a line under it, and accepted that I couldn't do anything about being ill or about the comments made to me. I needed to get better, so I rested up, and did no physical exercise at all, and once I was back eating, tried to make really good healthy choices.
It must've worked, cos I lost another 2lbs this week! That brings me to a total of 1st 11lbs in 6 weigh ins!!!!
The icing on the cake for me was trying on a pair of boots I got around November last year, which were snug in the calf area, and needed to be held together to zip up. After not wearing them for a few weeks, the zip flew up my leg and took me a little by surprise, and the calves are loose, so much so, I can get my hands in them as well as my legs! Result! It reminded me that I had an expensive pair of boots in my wardrobe, which I have never fitted into, and are pretty lovely and stroke-able - they're Nubuck, and guess what - I can do them up, all bar about an inch at the top - yay!
BTW - I do not have teeny tiny Geisha Girl feet, it is camera trickery!
Well, the lurgy is on it's way out, I have started a 10 week Walking for Weight loss program today, run by a friend of mine, and I will continue the other walking and swimming, and may even join pilates in the next few weeks.
Really hoping for another 3lb loss this week, which will take me up to 2 stone. :-)Wish me luck. x
I have been overweight my entire adult life. Periodically I try to lose weight, and have tried a number of different ways. I know it's a journey, just trying to reach my destination one step at a time. I hope you enjoy my ramblings while I 'write out loud' and try to get my head around it all!

Pour Some Sugar On Me
....not in the name of love, as Def Leppard requested, but because I have been craving bad carbs this week :-(
After losing 2lbs at the last weigh in, which I was deeply chuffed with, as I had been poorly all week (unfortunately my appetite, never goes when I am ill). I had missed out on my walks, which I had been steadily building up the weeks before, and for once in my life I had genuinely missed exercising - who'd have thought it!
So, this week, inspired by the lovely food tasting session we had at SW class - panacotta, 1/2 syn cake, savoury rice, home made houmous and a gorgeous tasty cous cous served in lettuce leaves (much better than it sounds, trust me) - I was all set to lose 4lb this week - taking me up to my 1 1/2 stone mark.
But, for some reason, I have craved carbs this week - we haven't much in the way of any in the house, which has saved me in part, as well as some low syn roulade, which I made...
- but my husband, he who is also trying to lose weight (allegedly), has made his way through several large bags of chilli coated nuts, and there are still a few bags in the cupboard - so I had a small handful, and then another - and then when I worked out the damage based on an estimate of the weight I had consumed, I was shocked to say the least, lets just say it put me right off eating any more. After the initial shock, I was really annoyed with myself for jeopardising my weight loss this week.
Old dieting me, would have pretended I hadn't eaten those nuts, and that it hadn't taken me over my limit for the day, and carried on missing this little thing and that little thing off my diet sheets, self sabotaging until the inevitable weigh in.
But, instead, I drew a line under it, and moved on, trying to adjust my eating habits the next day to compensate for my over indulgence and get right back on track.
Last night, I got a lovely message from a work colleague who said that she had read my blog and that I had inspired her! Me, inspiring someone - well who'd have thought it! So she is also now back on it with a new diet, and a personal trainer. Hopefully when we next meet, we will both be significantly lighter :-)
That in turn has inspired me, as I was still feeling a bit low last night about my self sabotage, so I took action, contacting a friend who runs a Couch 2 5K program, and is about to start a walking for weight loss one too - so I've 'signed up' for that too, and it starts a week Saturday.
I'm also dusting off the swimming cossie, taking a chain saw to my 'Hobbit' legs, and braving the pool later for ladies night.....on my own!
Wish me luck this week for another loss.....
