Well, what a fab week I had....in my last post, I was having a bit of a 'kick myself up the backside' moment, after yoyo-ing up and down over the last 6 weeks. Well, having a word with myself, must have worked because this week I got my 4 1/2 stone award!!!
Super chuffed is the understatement of the year - I'm edging ever so closely to the weight I was around when I got married, 15 years ago, and whilst still very overweight then, it's the last weight I can actually recall I was, if that makes sense?
IMAGE therapy (group) was great, they're always all about food, obviously, but this time we were having a taster session - I had made a healthier version of potato salad, there were quiches, curly wurly cake (yum!), Chinese cucumbers, turkey and apple balls, Bakewell bites, and a whole host of other tasty stuff, but the icing on the cake was that I got nominated, and then won my groups Woman of the Year!!! How fab is that? I got a sash and a bottle of bubbly, and a certificate - I do love a certificate! The other two nominees were equally worthy contenders, and I can honestly say, had it have been them, I would have been really thrilled for them too, but I can not tell you the buzz I got from that award, and knowing that my group were right behind me :-)
Friends and family keep asking me what has made me stick to it this time, and how much I want to lose - and for the second question -I have no idea, well I have a rough idea of weight, but no idea what that will look like on me, so it could be much higher or lower than that as I have never seen myself a 'normal weight' as an adult. The first question is much harder - if I knew the answer, I would bottle it and sell it and become a millionaire, but a large part of it is this.....
I've found 'my thing'......and for me, that is a group that I feel a part of, and who are genuinely there for me through the good weeks, and the bad; an eating plan that makes perfect sense, and is going to be a way of life; a consultant, who has lost a large amount herself, and understands exactly where I am coming from; exercise that I enjoy and the buzz I get when I get a loss on those scales, and feel my clothes getting too big!
I think that is the key - you have to find your thing - I was speaking to one of my best friends today, and she is currently on a 9 day detox plan - where you don't eat for the first day, but drink shakes, and aloe vera - and then gradually introduce good clean foods - but I have to say, although this is her 'thing' and works for her and her lifestyle - I just felt sorry for her, as I'm getting to eat a shed load of food each day, and still am losing weight, you see - her 'thing' would absolutely not work for me - each to their own eh?
Anyhow, I will leave you with this 'lovely' pic of me in typical 'eyes shut' pose - I can not tell you how chuffed I was that day :-)
